Nebraska Wesleyan's 大画廊 will showcase the work of John Opera in the exhibition, "Redux." Opera combines a deep interest in the visual characteristics of natural and scientific phenomena with a rigorous experimental approach to the techniques and apparatuses by which photographs have been defined and produced. Opera often returns to antiquated—but by no means exhausted—photographic tools and processes, including pinhole imaging, 和更多的 recently the cyanotype and anthotype.

Opera’s exhibitions include Higher Pictures in 纽约, Longhouse Projects in 纽约, Chicago's DOCUMENT and Shane Campbell Gallery in Chicago, among other institutions. His work has been reviewed by 登载于,登载于.com, The 纽约erFlash艺术The Chicago Tribune, The Miami RailThe Buffalo NewsChicago Artist Writers, 和更多的.

He earned his B.F.A. degree from SUNY New Paltz in 1998 and M.F.A. degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2005. He lived, worked, taught, exhibited in Chicago for more than a dozen years. He currently serves as an assistant professor of photography at the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, 纽约.

The exhibition opens November 11, a reception that day from 5-7 p.m. in 大画廊, located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts at 50th Street and Huntington Ave. Opera will also host an artist talk November 10 at 5:30 p.m. in Lucas Hall, room 206. Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10 a.m. 到下午4点.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 1-4 p.m. The last day for the exhibition is on January 29, 2023.

Note: The gallery will be closed Friday, December 16 through Monday, January 9 due to winter break.
